While a handful of rich people are having a great time treating Florida like one big amusement park for them, we can’t pay our rent. Your family should not need to make six figures to cover rent; you should not have to work three jobs without healthcare or benefits just to keep a roof over their heads. Developers and realtors in our state are making a literal killing in this housing crisis, and it’s by design; it’s time we stop treating this moment like it isn’t manmade, and fight back.
Amend the state constitution to protect the Sadowski housing fund and use it to keep people in their homes, and then expand the SAIL and Live Local programs to incentivize genuinely affordable housing from developers.
I will fight to restore home rule by repealing the state ban on rent control - giving the people back their power to make their own choices as a community. We’ll give renters real protections Including anti-price gouging measures, so renters are not blindsided by sudden increases.
I will push for more community owned housing here in Pasco and in every county priced for our teachers, nurses, first responders, and service workers, not just luxury development - and we’ll streamline the code approval process for it.
