Accountability first
I will push legislation that requires greater transparency from insurers to publicly answer for increased premium rates and ties growth related development approvals to real infrastructure and risk mitigation standards.
Floridians all know their insurance costs are too high and something isn’t right. For years, insurance has been spiking and greedy corporations are raking it in off the backs of our labor. Your elected officials aren’t touching the issue because they’re all on the payroll and rely on these people to bankroll their campaigns. I don’t need their money and I don’t want it - I want to make your life better, and I have a plan to actually fight to lower your insurance costs and keep them that way.
I will push legislation that requires greater transparency from insurers to publicly answer for increased premium rates and ties growth related development approvals to real infrastructure and risk mitigation standards.
I will push legislation that will strengthen protections for wetlands, springs, and aquifer recharge areas against sprawl and industrial water users, including data centers and large-scale warehouses.
We need to support incentives for fortified roofing and mitigation investments that lower risks, and premiums, for existing homeowners rather than only new construction. There must be a push from the legislature to restrict insurance companies to stop the raising of denials and premiums prior to storm season.
The Republican establishment dug a hole for Florida residents leaving us susceptible to unfair insurance practices. They pushed reforms to lower costs but it is simply not enough. I will support HB-30 that caps annual property insurance by 10-15%. There should be a fund that is created to help support the working class, and low income families afford insurance so when an emergency comes up they’re not left behind.
We must restore one-way attorney fees for wrongful denials. In doing this it ensures that insurers can’t just deny anyone who can’t afford lawyer fees.
